Magical Monday - Monochromatic

This week over at the Paper Cupcakes Challenge Blog Katrina Benton brings us our weekly challenge. The challenge was monochromatic this week, which I always love to do.

The first card I made I used the image "Fluttering By" by Paper Cupcakes and thought I would use purples. I colored my image with my colored pencils and the rest was really pretty easy. I used 3 different punches for my my flower and punched holes where I tied my ribbon to that one layer. The border punch is a Martha Stewart punch which I also embossed with the swiss dot embossing folder.

This following card I received from my husband for Valentine's Day and thought it was so interesting and pretty. I was drawn to the punched designed of the leaves and flowers on this and wanted to attempt that same look using one of my floral images.

So this is what I came up with. I printed off the image "Easter Lilies" from Paper Cupcakes and then the side that you would normally color; which would normally be the right side now became my backside. I took an embroidery needle and and poked holes along the whole outline of the image. I laid it on a mouse pad when I poked the holes. When I turned it over and it really pretty much looked like the above card. The above card had a pearl look to it which is really pretty inside of their flowers and leaves, but I didn't have anything like that to add so I added a white glitter to mine. This is really so much prettier in real life and I wish you could see it that way. If you click on the picture is will get larger and you will most likely see it much better. I embossed the background with a Cuttlebug embossing folder to get the overall look I wanted. I matted everything very thinly in a light grey matting just to give it a little depth. I used pop-up dots to lift the image away from the background and added a pretty white bow and some rhinestone to set it off and I think it turned out quite elegant. It will either be a lovely Easter card or I might save it for a wedding or sympathy card.

Well, that's pretty much all for me. I have started coming down with some chest congestion and an awful cough. I actually took a 3 hour nap today after church, well, I think we all did believe it or not. I really needed it and I rarely take naps. I just haven't been feeling too great this last week, but keep on going. So, here is to hoping I start feeling better than worse. So, I am still really tired so as soon as 10:00PM gets here and I close out last weeks blog posting I am headed to my bed!

Have a delightful day!

Hi Hon, I feel so bad about you and Avery. I am hoping it wasn't from me, but it is awful odd that you came down a few days after helping Karen move and being around me. I was just about over my cough and really thought I couldn't give it to anyone, but now I am wondering and feeling really bad. Odd thing is you are the only one and no one else has it as far as I know. I hope you both get better soon. Like I said, should I come over and take my punishment? Love the bunny card as you know I like lavender. The Easter card turned out very elegant. Love that idea, but then you have so many great ideas!
