I will be bringing you the last challenge of the year which is to use a snowman or with a Christmas theme. Paper Cupcakes-Stamps is also offering a really cute snowman image "Little Snow Friend". Of course I used the image. I made a quick and simple card. I paper pieced my hat and scarf on the snowman and then lightly colored him with a blue copic the stars yellow with some stickles on them to make them sparkle. I also used a Paper Cupcakes ticket from the Christmas ticket set. Added my bow and a pretty snowflake and just kept it simple.
Since I am the owner/artist over at Paper Cupcakes-Stamps... after a lot of contemplation over the last six months in regards to my Digital line of Stamps it is with great sorrow to announce that I will no longer continue on with the challenge blog. I have had really mixed feelings for a while now regarding this. I have spent a lot of heart and time pouring myself into designing some original images and I have over 500 in my store (did you know that?). Unfortunately, to be honest I just don't sell enough for it to make sense for me to continue to keep pouring myself into this. I also have had mixed feelings about the freebies I give away, but only a few ever use them to enter any of my challenges to win my images. It can be a little disheartening to have 60 participants enter a challenge, but only very few people will even make any kind of comment or leave a thank you. I am very sorry if this is kind of a downer type posting, but I just wanted to be honest and relay to you what has been on my heart and the reasons for my decision. I have had some incredible Designers and Guest Designers over the last 3 years to current who have dedicated not only their talents, but their time to help me showcase my images and I would have loved to see a little more love left on the blog just for them each week as well, because without them I wouldn't have had the challenge blog. Please do not misunderstand my words, I am very grateful for everyone that has played along over the years and especially the ones that took the time to actually use/purchase some of my images as well as leave some luvings along the way; so thank you. Although I am leaving this digital image venture behind, I am going to redirect my art towards a different venture and in that I find excitement and another path of adventure.

So, not only is this the last challenge of the year, it is also the last challenge for Paper Cupcakes. I will be leaving the store open until the end of the year and then I believe I will be removing it from the Internet and taking my images out of circulation as digital images and re-directing them in a different type venture.
So, thanks for lurking by and if I don't post again for a while, have a Very Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year!!
Ildiko Cseh brings us our challenge this week and she would like to see some "Sparkle, Sparkle, Sparkle". Well, not sure how much of my "Sparkle" you can actually see on my card, but it is there. I used one of the new releases from Paper Cupcakes called "Snowman Cupcake" and one of the Christmas tickets by Paper Cupcakes. I actually colored this whole image in photo shop which is new to me. I was trying out a tutorial on how to color in layers and although you really can't see much of my coloring it really did turn out well. I also made the paper design you see on the card too. I seen a card something like this with the little windows on pinterest and thought it was a cute idea so I cased it somewhat. The only thing is I messed up on how I did my images. I meant to put the top image in the middle and the middle image at the top. I glued one on and didn't realize I glued them in the wrong spot until it was too late to switch them, so I just left them alone. I added the sparkle with red and icicle stickles on the pattern paper I made to the dots in the middle and red to the ticket. This was really a pretty quick card to make too. I thought it turned out cute, although those mixed up images drive me a little crazy.... oh well.
Angie Gittles brings us our challenge this week. Once a month Paper Cupcakes-Stamps gives a freebie away. Angie wants the participants to actually use the freebie this month which is a cute little snowman with a tree.

I decided to start making some things for Christmas and I have been saving these potato chip containers that are kind of like a Pringles container, but they are aren't Pringles. I thought they would make a great container to add long pretzels dipped in chocolate for the holidays. I think they will hold about six with the chocolate on. I thought it would be a nice little gift to send in for a teacher or a nice little surprise to set on a desk for a secretary at school. This is my first one I have made and I thought it turned out super cute.

The container is that royal blue so I had this lovely wrapping paper that I still had a scrap of and used it. I painted the yellow lid pink with some paint and let it dry and then I took some pink tulle and wrapped 3 different layers around the lid to cover it all and just tied knots so I would have a cute plume at the top. I tied some light blue ribbon at the top around the bottom of that plume and then added my tag/sentiment and then the little snowflake on the of my ribbon bow. For the base which was kept simple I just wrapped the paper around the container and then added my punched boarder, my image and then the snow flakes. I colored my image with my Bic Mark-its and then added some Stickles for a little sparkle. I liked how this turned out the only thing I don't like is that I have to buy and eat potato chips to get the containers!
Well, that's it for me this week hope you will join in the challenge. I can't believe that Thanksgiving is just two weeks away for us in the US. I got all my outdoor stuff put away in the shed yesterday, even though I wasn't feeling so good. I was pushing my luck with the warmer weather and thought I best get-er-done. My husband helped and we got it completed pretty quickly and it's a good thing, because today as I am here typing this getting this ready for the posting later today it is snowing!!! It is not sticking and it is pretty, but please I am not ready for the snow at all! Well, have a great week and thanks for lurking by!
Shirley Quarry brings us our challenge this week. With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month and the color for that is Pink; Shirley would like to see us make a card or project that supports that by using the color pink as our main color (75% of your card/project should be Pink). If your card/project reflects cancer awareness by a cancer ribbon of some kind or you can look at the card/project and you can tell this is going to be sent to someone battling breast cancer by the sentiment or image, Paper Cupcakes will place your name in the drawing twice for a chance to win this week.

I used the image "Breast Cancer Cupcake" by Paper Cupcakes. It is on sale for the next 48 hours. I colored my image with colored pencils and added some stickles to the icing. I wanted the image to be the focus so I kept this clean and simple. The flower on this cupcake is an apple blossom. It stands for hope and good things to come.
I always think my cards look so much better in real life. The stickles is always so much prettier, as well as the rhinestones. I am also going to add this to one of the breast cancer challenges over at SCS.

It's turned cold here this week after having some 70 degree days last week. No wonder everyone is walking around with colds and the yucks. I hope everyone along the East Coast stays safe from the storms and are wise and stay away from the incoming waters. So, thanks for stopping by this week and I hope you will join in the challenge over at There's Magic In The Air with Paper Cupcakes!

Danie May brings us our challenge this week. She would like to see us make a card/project using the colors "Orange and Purple" as your two main colors. You can use other colors with this, but 75% of you color scheme should be tones of orange and purple. This does not have to be a Halloween card either.

Paper Cupcakes is also offering this freebie "What Characters" until Wednesday, so make sure you stop by and snag it and play along too!

I colored my image with Bic Mark-its and then colored the sky with my soft chalks and then I also spray it with hairspray to set it. I love how the chalks make such a soft sky and they were perfect for this evening sky. The sentiment comes with the image as well.

I made my image fairly large so it would be the main attraction for the card and kept it pretty clean & simply and try to keep it flat to make for easy mailing too.
I bring the challenge to us this week. Since this is the first day of October and fall is once again upon us we are going to do an "Anything Fall" challenge. This open ended for the creativity as long as it is fall themed. I used the image "Gnome on Pumpkin" from Paper Cupcakes. This little image just looks like the gnome is greeting Autumn's arrival and it certainly looks magical! I colored my image with my Bic Mark-its and kept it pretty clean and simple.
So, I will just embrace today and enjoy the colors that are starting to show their face on the trees. Have a great week and a first day of October Magic!
Danie May brings us our challenge in which she would like to see us use something with wings on your card/project. It can be something winged in the main image or an embellishment. ie. Fairy, Butterfly, Bird etc. Just as long as there is something winged in your image or on your card.

I made 2 quick cards and thought these cute little bats would certainly fit the "winged" challenge:

The first one I used the image by Paper Cupcakes "Frightfully Cute" with the "Halloween Tickets" by Paper Cupcakes. I used my colored pencils to color the image and added some stickles to the image and the paper on the candy corn.

On the second card I used "Just A Little Corny and the Halloween Tickets" by Paper Cupcakes too. I also used colored pencils on this image and added some stickles on the yellow part of the candy corn.

Kept both cards pretty simple and used the same colors. Halloween will be upon us before we know it and now I have two cards already made. I guess I should be working on Christmas ones too!

Tuesday is Avery's 9th birthday. He has grown up so fast, but if you have children I don't have to tell you about that. I took these pictures last month when I was messing around with my camera settings and made him pose for me. Millie decided to jump in and be part of the pictures too. She doesn't like to be left out I guess. I just loved these two pictures below; especially the second one.

ALSO: Just as a reminder that Paper Makeup Stamps and Party Time Tuesdays Challenge blogs are co-hosting a hop in honor of Jen Scull, who is battling cancer. Jen was also a DT member for Paper Cupcakes last year.

I didn't know about the hop until it was too late to join in, so I still purchased the stamp set and made a card in honor of the hop, because I so wanted to be a part of it and support Jennifer. I also sponsored one of the prizes along with many other companies and friends of Jennifers. So you should check it out if you haven't already. The blog hop is already half way through and was scheduled to start at 12:00AM Eastern time on August 29th and will run till 11:59 pm on Tuesday September 4.

You can find the beginning of the hop at Paper Makeup Stamps HERE .

All winners will be posted to the Paper Makeup Blog and to Party Time Tuesday Blog on Friday September 7th.

You will see a digi set that was created just for Jen. ALL proceeds of this set will go directly to Jen's family. Included are 2 images and 3 word art digis. Illustrations by Diem Pascarella, word art arrangement by Katie Cotton. If you would like to purchase the set and help donate to a good cause you can find the stamp set HERE to purchase.
I colored my image with Bic Mark-its and used some Stickles to add a little bling to my caterpillar. Kept it pretty simple and used all scrap paper for this card except the base of course. Well, if you stop by make sure you "just say hi, howdy or hello" and let me know you stopped by. I always love to hear from you. In the meantime, make it a joyful day! Ninahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12185711471813680110noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1998409258289114812.post-15606175627967191592012-08-07T12:36:00.001-04:002012-09-03T13:07:05.946-04:00Magical Monday - DoilyWell, here we are at the beginning of another week. We lost our power for 2 days and just got it back on last night. Needless to say we are a spoiled society and we take so much for granted. It is good to be back to the norm. We borrowed a generator from my parents and since we didn't have air we had a fan going in the front room. Avery and I slept on the floor Sunday night and remind me the next time that I am too old to sleep on the floor without any kind of air mattress!! Although he was so cute and kept telling me how much fun he had, so I guess a little bit of soreness was all worth it! Running a little behind because of no access to the Internet, but here is the challenge for this week for Paper Cupcakes. Angie Gittles brings us the challenge this week and she wanted us to use a doily. I don't use them much on cards, but I do love the look of them on cards. I just don't think to go there. I ran out to the dollar store and picked up a package. I really wanted a smaller one, but they only had the larger ones so I picked out an 8 inch package. I let the doily pretty much cover the whole background of my card.

I used the "Teddy bear Sunday" image three times and colored it like a neapolitan ice cream adding the light green rhinestones also made me think of some yummy spumoni ice cream. I keep this card really clean and simple. I colored my image with my colored pencils and added some glossy accents on the syrup on the bears as well as the cherries and then once dry I added some stickles on the cherries, but that is hard to see in these pics. I added the pretty red ribbon and bow to set it all off.

With everything so dry and with the drought in Indiana everything is drying and dying so early and things are going to seed quickly. That is the case with my cone flowers this year. I have not been watering a lot since everything was close to dead when I got back from vacation. Anyway.... since my cone flowers are going to seed they have been attracting the goldfinches to my cone flowers. So I decided to sit not far from where I kept seeing them land and attempted to get some pictures of them so I could do a few watercolors of them. Here are a few pictures I got that I thought where pretty good pictures.

Have a beautiful day and make sure you take time to see the beautiful things that are all around you in the small things we tend to take for granted sometimes. These goldfinches were just that. They brought a lot of joy to my day and it felt good to sit in the sun and capture part of this beauty in still to enjoy and to maybe paint at a later date. Thanks for lurking by and seize the day with some joy!

This week Shirley Quarry brings us our challenge and she would love to see us make a card or project with something you have recycled. It can be a coke tab, recycled game piece, tag, etc.. be creative and have fun!

I chose the image "Dancing Bear with Ribbons" by Paper Cupcakes. I colored the image with Bic Mark-its. The recycled item that I used is the charm piece hanging from the flower in the bottom right corner. It was actually part of an earring that one of my daughters tossed out. There were three charms on each earring and I took that one off and used it like a charm. This was a pretty simple and easy card.
Had a great week away this past week in the sand and sun. The below picture was the first night on the beach. This rainbow was the most vibrant rainbow I have ever seen and it was completely full from side to side and at times you could see a double rainbow very faintly.
You can find the challenge at the Paper Cupcake's Challenge Blog; There's Magic In The Air.

This week I present you with two sketches so you have a choice. Pick one of the sketches found at Paper Cupcake's Challenge Blog; There's Magic In The Air and then use it. You can flip it, rotate it or stretch it, just as long as you can still see the original sketch on your card.

The image "Margarita Cupcake" is a freebie for 48 hours and after that you can find it in the store. So, make sure you stop by and snag it and while you'll there why don't you show a little appreciation for the freebie and play along with the challenge as well. I colored my image with colored pencils and colored the cupcake holder to match my ribbon. Went with summery bright colors and added some stickles to the icing and lime. Then added a cute little flower and some rhinestones. It was a pretty quick card since I was following a sketch, which is why I love sketches.
Well, the heat is about to kill me over here, today was a whopping 106 and our air is having a hard time keeping up with the outside. With our air on and fans going in some of the rooms we still have 84 degrees in our home!! Although I still will take this over a cold winter. Well, that is it for me today. Going to keep this simple and short. I have a busy next few days and then I am off to escape on a little rendezvous with Eric. So, thanks for lurking by and have a joyful week!

This week Carroll Davis brings us our challenge and since summer time is party time, she wanted us to make an invitation to any type of party. It could be a barbecue, cocktail party, baby or wedding shower, birthday party (child or adult), pool party or just a get together to have FUN!

I chose the image "July Celebration; with flag" by Paper Cupcakes. I have never seen this image colored in before, so I wanted to use it. I think this was perfect for a July celebration. I colored the image with colored pencils and used a light blue copic around the edges of the image. I made a triple tier slider card which you can find the instructions HERE. It really is not too hard. I have made this type card only one other time and once you make it the first time, it is fairly easy the next. I love how it slides open. I decided to keep this element free for the most part to keep it as flat as possible thinking you would most likely mail this type of invite. Although this is a mock invitation and I could have bulked it up, but decided not to. We really are not having a BBQ on the 4th! So, don't be disappointed if you aren't invited; no one really is!
Well, that is it for me for today in regards to card making. Today and yesterday have been frustrating days. Went to a baby shower and when I arrived back home to work on my blog postings for the main blog my computer sent up all the bells and whistles for warnings and virus and telling me if I go any further I could crash my computer and so on. I couldn't access anything and luckily a kind hearted friend took my computer and fixed it, but it took hours and I got it back late last night. Then this morning I couldn't unzip things and had to call him to find I had to do a few little things, no biggie really, but then I went to blow dry my hair after my shower and blew a fuse to half the house. And of course the half that had my internet service and my computer. So, I started to string extension cords and finally got my internet back so I could work on this and then I realized my frig/freezer was off in the garage, Well, it's been in the 90's so I didn't want that to stay off. So, I called my neighbor to come look at our fuse box. Now, I can flip some switches when it comes to this, I do know what to do, but the fuses where hanging out of the box when I flipped them over so I was scared to touch them as being horrified I would be electrocuted! So, Carl came over and guess what, he shut down all the power! Which meant I had to get my internet all back on. I think my wireless box is on it's way out so I had to wiggle things and hold my head just right to get it to work today. Needless to say it took hours which turned into all day. I was stressed and then my daughter told me at 5:40 she had to be to play practice at 6:00 which is a good 1/2 hour away and my postings were not completed. :o( I know... it really all could have been way worst and it really is small matter in the big picture of things, but I am telling you, I was stressed and still am! Here it is 11:30 and I am working on a post that should have posted at 6:00.

Moral of the story is: don't procrastinate!!! Because when you do, you usually end up with a day like this!

Well on the up side, I am thinking that tomorrow will be much better, yes it will!!

Free range in creativity and design. I am using the freebie this week from Paper Cupcakes which is the "Mustashe Cupcake" perfect for a masculine card and father's day. I paper pieced the cup and colored the cupcake with colored pencils and added some stickles to make it sparkle a bit. The card was pretty simple and quick. The cards from the Designers turned out really cute this week using this image so make sure you stop by and see how they all colored thier image and did their cards. Super cute they all are!!
I totally spaced doing my personal blog posting! I thought about it around 4:30 today and then got side tracked cleaning up the paint cans everywhere and then made dinner. Guess what? Yeah, I just thought about it... so here it is short and sweet!

The challenge this week is "3 in a row" at the Paper Cupcake's Challenge Blog; There's Magic In The Air. This week Danie May wants us to pick 3 elements from the below grid that are in a row, can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal and incorporate them into your card or project.

I decided to use one of the new images over at Paper Cupcakes "Girl with Umbrella". I must say I really liked this image! Even though you really can't tell I cut the umbrella out and placed it on pop up dots so it is more 3_D. I used my color pencils to color the image and used some stickles on the green lines on the umbrella. The stickles is much prettier in real life; wish you could see it. I did a fairly large image, since this image seemed to be long and narrow I didn't really want it to be small... so I went big and I really liked how it turned out. I did the grid across the top. So I used punches; butterfly & border. Ribbon and two pattern papers. I also inked the edges of the image with a cat eye chalk. It really is a pretty simple and clean card, but it works really nicely with this image which I wanted to stand out.

You can flip, rotate or stretch it as along as you can still see the initial sketch in your project. I am also using the freebie image "Sending Cheer Your Way" by Paper Cupcakes; which I might add is only available for free for the next 48 hours. I colored the image with Bic Mark-its. I made the rose with my mom one day way back with one of her punches and thought it would be perfect for this card that I knew would be hand delivered to a special friend on her birthday. There was no way that that flower was going to make it through the mail in a regular envelope! I did an easel, because I thought the sketch would be perfect for that that type of card.
If you have never made an easel card before you can find the instructions HERE.

Here is the sketch:

Well, today is my sweetie's birthday and he took off work and we are going to run away for the day and do something just the two of us. Not sure what that is yet, but right now I just don't care what we do as long as we just get out the two of us and have a little fun.

I had a great weekend. The weather was just perfect. The birthday party I hosted for my friend was full of lots of fun, good friends, good food and a perfect night in my book. Went to church, great message and always love to see my church family weekly. Got to spend part of the day with my mom, dad and sister and Jim. Eric visited his mom while I visited mine (we splited and divided to save same time in our day) and then we went to the nursing home together to see Eric's step-mom. Then I came home and played a yard game with Avery, then fell in the hammock and took a little nap, which was very much needed after this busy week. It was a great day in all and now I have tomorrow to look forward to as well.

Thanks for lurking by and may your week hold much JOY!
I automatically wanted to do a clean and simple card. So part of my inspiration for my card was the feeling the photo gave me which was neat and clean, but with a splash of color. Also, I chose an image of bottles, because I was also inspired by the 3 little bottles sitting on the table. I am all about the small details and I think those three little bottles reflected just that, small details in the room. I colored the image "Tender Loving Care" by Paper Cupcakes with colored pencils and dry embossed the background piece that was inspired by the design in the rug.
Well, since we are talking about being inspired, below is a canvas I did one late night. I have been feeling under the weather, a little blue and down lately and one night instead of going to bed I stayed up and ran across this blog. I love to get lost in creativity especially when it is just create as you go. I don't tend to do it very often (not sure why), but when I seen this blog Christy really inspired me. So, I stayed up late and I already had a canvas on hand, of course I already have tons of paper and pretty much everything on hand to get creative with. So, I have this one friend that is always finding "JoY" well that is what she is known for "Joy sayings".... she even takes pictures of Joy dish soap and posts them on FB, she so cracks me up and I just love her attitude. So anyone that would know her and would read this would know who I am speaking of. So... I thought I would go with a sentiment about joy.. since I have been feeling so blue... Plus I think it lifted my spirits. I didn't draw anything out (although I should have). The one thing I love about seeing Christy's videos is she just cut (well she appeared to anyway), although I must say my face is lacking a nose (what is that about) and her chest is not quite how I would really want it (seriously). But I just left them (which was very hard). I didn't really notice either one so much out of whack until of course I had them glued down. I really try to leave all my littler imperfections just that, imperfections and just kept adding. I have many layers, paint, ribbon, punched paper, stickles, rub-ons, marker, different papers and the big flower is my own digi image that I printed on tissue paper and plastered on in the background. I really liked how it turned out and although it does feel a little girlish, I still had tons of fun creating it. Just wanted to share it with you and you should check out Christy's blog she also has some classes you can take as well.
I chose to go to Wilma Zengotita's blog and you can find the card I cased here. I think her card is a bit more in the square. I cut my card as a 5x7 and pouted a bit once I realized her card was more in square. So I just worked with the size I cut my card. I think overall it turned out OK. I colored my image with colored pencils. Chalked my sky with a blue and pink and then added stickles to the rain.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 332px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPq24XJhkiuu0djbzduTj9dlI50VOW_LECkpVJvmM7p_zBUqtNRjqrZxVoAPAgowxg8SgsFrtojfSNmJKFF-nLMpXUszY9q_58PJfvQ9Rr2J6fEl539bqCL21Xfu4zHd_69vBNYQQ5XxeP/s400/AprilShowers%2528C%2529NinaJMay_PaperCupcakes_fc.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5732075879018596818" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgG8qbtmJz3WqePiTNV01MhTPFSQAL7MM2DOnd6hkgfx-lEcntZpRXbcEEaNVJJRYV5DyYaNqvA5ktxkEoIFShzcPKLaGMzfmKmBkPQ-XAq_QuhrlPWB2lrKz8tVBmG2c8G1yhTM5Nng398/s400/AprilShowers%2528C%2529NinaJMay_PaperCupcakes_3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5732075891329621522" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 293px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD8th2-QM3s5Gnq73i_l-oMObROtc763FBq_VKdkRDOkL5jEErWlgKLhN1oAHuucPHarNtNt9fhBKsQCYuHfBFuBmGpJvfg7-ruphEhUoNs2bv05ZkTc8Tn4eeYtECZOn28S5CTBLCXcOP/s400/AprilShowers%2528C%2529NinaJMay_PaperCupcakes_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5732075902722114546" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqjQIdZU82iVR7b-YNinKoS8zqk5JrOVi8UWE3vQpJ_M4eFeO4Z-l_LQmflTFJSxNHxFw8a0n_R7VVjo-Eiex3n_KTDui0R_6dIrQImZbqU28CraMmwTHI0ewEAKpbjO_QW3TJZPX5vVAs/s400/AprilShowers%2528C%2529NinaJMay_PaperCupcakes_4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5732075905439034914" />

Yesterday was beautiful here, but a few days prior to that was rainy. I used the image "Morgan Reading; with wings" by Paper Cupcakes. I decided to do a long card vs. the standard 5x7 card. I rarely make this type of card, but I love how this one turned out. My two circles are actually the yoyo flower I made. I used one larger circle and a circle that was a little smaller to make up the flower. I sprayed the circles with glimmer mist and then crunched them up until they dried and then added some stickles to the edges of the circles and wings on the image and in the grass as well. My lace is the bow. I colored my image with Bic Mark-its and the wings with colored pencils. I love the punch of the bright springy pink in the flowers and the butterflies I punched. I also chalked my sky with a blue and pink.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 208px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKkvDQQutgP-ZDxfyF-IT6_gqVmH4HCminhki-Pe6Kb7w34hM6hpIR84cDgMMCZuAEH-qaF_dOFKo7S3eQntEb8yOlVUTuph7F4FUy5Z1s2z9mdNqxj85Nz5Pt7MfMYdKSRtNmPtOoO81E/s400/MorganReadingww%2528C%2529NinaJMay_PaperCupcakes_fc.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5726844127323430306" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitIUFoMvKODFnvIiQ8fW8CAGmrCaOwDQPOuMvKjvejaAfl8-Saofr_OEGuGpjR5Dizaa-2KTX1Rc_3HtcSoFBd0IAvkcf8YOHbl1WGpI2U4Q-EihjWou__zU7Zmfp3HMOtEGq1Kw8-HagW/s400/MorganReadingww%2528C%2529NinaJMay_PaperCupcakes_3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5726844136077880194" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 270px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpsFGrCl64vdU80mek6pU3QjelkDOfuu6PLIV4glHPcauzwnMKIN-MVxuUymhcifpeRR2qO6NGmDIzPvC740482U3Bug4Euyj5tzGC25AjRpgFlMKA1aNE0V2BZ3qWQ0ZXB14cuVL_CAt_/s400/MorganReadingww%2528C%2529NinaJMay_PaperCupcakes_flowers.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5726844141596502418" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 271px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi2IVaiVauzvFqYR2KeUN1ug4i0OgnTp-Kib9QliWkH3G-81hMNVGViSNwIDJBkRWWtQcjcJKBguF0chBKR-_aIa2g09xR9s8Yjiw7q7EXEYmWxnxVPoW5fyk6jGbdOxvzXLhZ5qjwdhzj/s400/MorganReadingww%2528C%2529NinaJMay_PaperCupcakes_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5726844156777541218" />

Well, that's it for me for today. So, the whole idea of doing a Less is More card it to keep is simple, clean and make a card that someone else could reproduce in about 10 minutes. This is the design I came up with. Of course it totally takes me at least 10 minutes to just pick out my papers, so after you get that accomplished then it goes pretty quickly. I used Bic Mark-its to color the images on the top two cards. I added stickles to my tree leave and used a Martha Stewart border punch (loop I think). I think if you look at the card it is pretty self explanatory. I actually punched some tiny flowers out and placed them on my tree after taking the pics. I just couldn't help myself... it just felt like it needed that little extra on the trees. :o)

The below cards I did the same design layout. So, of course I picked the image from Paper Cupcakes called "It's My Party". I colored the image with my Souffle 3-D opaque Ink Pens. I love how different these look, although you can't really shade with them, I still love the look of them. I kept my card fairly simple. Criss-crossed my ribbon on each section piece and instead of adding bows I added fiber to give is some fun fuzzy texture and then added some lines of pearls & rhinestones. Added a touch of Stickles to the crown and wand for a little sparkle and called it complete.

This month has just flown. Our dog Millie just over a month ago was diagnosed with a detached retina. We took her to an emergency clinic and seen an optamologist shortly after that. They put her on pain meds and we watched it for a few weeks. One night I literally thought she was dying, mainly because she seemed in so much pain and wasn't really responding to me much. I ended up getting some more meds and took her to the vet the next day. Her eye pressure was extremely high, which a normal dog's eye pressure is usually around 10-12 and hers was 57! I ended up taking her right into emergency eye surgery which was to remove the eye. So we did that and they also found a benign tumor behind her eye which they removed as well. She just got her stitches out last Thursday and she is doing great and is glad to have that cone off. This is her new look now and we are getting use to it. It certainly doesn't seem to slow her down at all. We can't thank the wonderful vets enough that seen us through it all, there were 4 different ones totaled and I loved them all, but I truly appreciate the South side Animal Hospital that took her into emergency surgery and was waiting on my call after we visited the optamologist. They were the best! Anyway, she is doing great and I am sure she knows and feels she is deeply loved.

This past Saturday Morgan my youngest daughter went to sectionals for speech. She does a duo with another girl which is funny in content. I really did not know what speech was prior to her doing it and it was nothing like what I imagined it to be. There are lots of categories and nothing like giving a speech. It is more like acting and doing improv, but not. That is the best I can describe it. Anyway... Her and Christa took second overall in their category and their school took first place overall the schools in their sectional. It is won by a point system. So each time a child wins in their category they get points for which place they took and their school walked away with the highest points which landed them in first place over all. They are crazy talented kids and a joy to watch on the stage and off. Well, anyway here is a picture of the group that went to sectionals. They are off to State now and that is in a couple of weeks. We are lucky that it will take place close to home, which is really nice!

Morgan is the cute one left of the trophy holding her red ribbon and the girl to the left of her is her partner in the duo. These kids work a lot of hours and it looks like it is paying off. I hope they rock State!

And here is a project I just did for a friend. She wanted to give her friend some personalized wine glasses and asked if I would paint them. She wanted butterflies on them and this is what I came up with:

I actually painted eight so she will get two in each color. I loved how they turned out. I would have only did one thing differently. I did the bases with the white and black dots, but I did both glasses in each the colors with the same colored dots. I wish I would have did white dots on one pink glass and black dots on the other pink glass and so on in all the colors. This way all the glasses would have been different, but alike and and the dots would have made that difference. Not sure if that makes sense to you, but I know what I mean and oh well, next time. I love these so much I think I will have to make myself a set!

For anyone who would like to attempt this I thought it was pretty easy and it would make a lovely gift. I used only six colors and the type of paint I used was FolkArt enamel for glass and ceramics (total: about 2.00 a bottle; can buy at Wal-mart or any craft store). You bake the glasses once they are complete (follow instructions on the bottle) and that sets the paint. It is suppose to be top shelf dishwasher safe, but if it were me and someone took the time to hand paint them, I wouldn't risk the dishwasher and would hand wash them. Maybe I will try a piece of glass and run it through the dishwasher to see how it holds up. I also made my own template for the butterflies and did not buy one. I just used my butterfly punch by EK and punched a border long enough to go around the glass. It lined up a little funny so I had to cut one butterfly off and add a smaller one to the fill in where it did not line up just right. I used re positional spray adhesive and then stuck it on the clean glass. I then added the paint and took the template off immediately after painting all the colors. This works the best while the paint is still wet. Otherwise it tends to tear off some of the paint that dries to the template. Then I cleaned the sticky off with a q-tip and some alcohol and then repainted the butterflies with another coat of paint to make them more crisp. Then I went and added all the details freehand. This was a lot of fun and the first time I have ever done anything like this. It certainly won't be the last. I am seeing some lovely Christmas gifts forthcoming! Wouldn't a truffle bowl be lovely? You could always print off a design and tape it on the inside and then just paint over the design too. This could be some endless creativity and fun.

Also, I want to lift up all the communities that have been dealing with the deadly and devastating tornado's that went through. We had some in Indiana, but they were much further South and missed us. I have a bad feeling this is just the beginning of a really scary spring storm season and living in tornado alley does not thrill me. My heart goes out to all of the communities and people and especially to the ones that lost love ones. Some truly sad stories there. So, holding all of that in prayer, because we certainly can't make sense of it all.

OK.. That's if for me and thanks for lurking by. I hope you enjoyed my post today. If you have any questions regarding my painted glasses feel free to e-mail me or leave your question in the comments and I will get back to you.

So, Happy Birthday to me and to anyone else that shares my day! I think this might be a new fav of mine! You can find a tutorial HERE. I also helped my mom and neighbor make one and they both turned out really cute. I should have taken pictures of them so you could see them.

I used the image "Izzy & Pouch; Happy Birthday" by Paper Cupcakes. I personally love thus cute little image! I used Bic Mark-its to color the image and added some stickles to the water and the edges.

I took this in the sunshine, but I think it might have been a little too bright. It cast a dark shadows in some of the pictures and you can't see all the detail, ever though there isn't much detail.

Also, there is a little staple on the ribbon and it has the work HAPPY on it and you can't see that either, but that is the Happy to Happy Birthday to you on the tag.

It has been a rough week with our dog Millie and her detached retina. She was in so much pain one night we had to have them call in some more meds and then the next day I spent most of the day at the vets. She ended up going in for emergency eye surgery to have her eye removed, because the pressure was too high. They found a tumor behind her eye which most likely was the cause for the detached retina. She is recovering well and seems to be getting around just fine, outside have to wear that cone. We haven't gotten any news back yet if the tumor is cancerous or not, I want the call to come in, but then again, I am a bit worried to hear the answer in case it is not good news. We have had a busy week and weekend with show choir competitions and next weekend is crazy with pinewood derby, more show choir and attending a surprise b-day party for one our friends. A nice nothing to do weekend would be great about now! Have a great week and thanks for lurking by!!!
Ninahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12185711471813680110noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1998409258289114812.post-31464212243420929322012-02-07T14:15:00.006-05:002012-02-20T13:36:11.750-05:00Wow, I can't believe I am actually blogging two days back to back! Just kind of wanted to post some odd pictures of some things I have made or did over the last couple months that were actually something other than a card.

This first picture is a canvas I made for our school's annual dinner auction. The dinner/auction is to help raise money for our school; of course a good cause! Since the school our children go to is a Christian school I wanted the piece to reflect that. So I decided I wanted to do a picture with all the children's and staff's fingerprints, but then you run into making a piece that is fun and looks more then just a canvas with finger prints stuck on it. Since I loved the "UP" movie I kept thinking of the bunch of balloons that lifted the house up and thought "ummm.... a bunch of balloons would be nice. I originally drew a simple drawing of the front of the church and was going to attach the balloons to that, but I didn't want the canvas too big and it was already 20x24, not real big, but not too small, but adding the building I would have had to go up to a 24x30 canvas, so I decided to leave off the house and in place of that I did the verse "Once Jesus touches your heart, the fingerprints last forever." So, after I figured out the design I ventured out to get the prints at school this past week and then placed their first name on top of their print. I color coded each class and the key is on the back of the canvas. (so first grade was blue, second was red and so on..) I actually placed each finger where I wanted it, mainly because I wanted the colors to be spread out and the overall shape in a heart. Hope that makes sense. After having all the prints I came home and drew a balloon around each print and then strings to each print and "tied" them to the word Jesus. I just loved how it turned out and I think the children really thought it was cool. I did a big cross for church many years ago with the children and had them each paint a tile and then my dad made a cross for me to place all the tiles in. The cross hangs in the main room which is part of our church/school and the children still still love to go and find their tile (and they have grown quite a bit since then). So I know the children will continue to love finding their prints as well.

This is the finished canvas. It looks a little weird, because I forgot to take a picture of it before I place the plastic wrap over it. So you can see the wrinkles of that and it was a harder to photograph because of that. Oh well, you get the idea. This would make a great project for any school or class or even a family tree type project. I used my cat eye chalk inks for most of the prints and then sprayed the canvas with Deft to seal it. I also place a cute ribbon all away around the side edges which gave it a nice finished look.

These next pictures are a canvas I did for the lady that does my hair. She has her own salon outside her house and I painted the salon walls a few years back and made two custom painting for her on canvas in black and white and added a touch color that I painted her walls with; back then. She also does nails, but I never get my nails done, but every time I go I see a dead spot that I felt needed a piece of art, which was above where she did her nails. So, as a Christmas gift I made this canvas for her. Not sure why I have such trouble photographing artwork on canvas, but I seem to! I also put ribbon on the outside edge of the canvas and it was black with white polka-dots like in the lettering and nails. I think it turned out cute and she seemed to love it. That orange/red and pinkish colors are the colors of her walls.

This is a quick card I made my girl friend for a recent birthday and just now getting around to posting it. I hosted a table and we were all asked to bring a special desert to share. This is what I made. It was a Raspberry Torte and it was YUMMY! Although it got a little "cockeyed" and slid a little on the way to church. It was a lot of fun to make and so so yummy too. The chocolate sticks were way fun to make and stick in the cake. Easy too. It made a lovely presentation, but a little harder to cut with all that stuff on top, but we managed to eat all of it.

Thanks for stopping by to lurk and if you read half of this I have to give you a big thanks! You have to use pink & white and any other color "except" it "can not" be red. I chose green. I made a surprise pop up card. You can find a tutorial HERE. I seen this somewhere and thought I was up to try a new design and I love slider cards. I think it was pretty easy too.

I colored my image with my Bic-Mark-its and outlined it with a light blue copic. If you look closely you will see that my punched border actually moves when my image slides up. I thought that was pretty clever. I did this mainly because it was a little more of a challenge to add things since the image slid. I only connected that part to the part the slides and left the sides unattached (hope that makes since).

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 287px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs-a44x1bCJFBGe-39-jjHx6-SWOnc-e-NNNkRNW0d66faUeWaZGWFxL9dDZRSUuU7LwmPLj1dXn63q3ng6jxo9oxY4M64tUW9krua9FRnNkNPVMs1OBMubYdnMWm61LHZKl6ziOdQwf7e/s400/EnjoyTheMoment%2528C%2529NinaJMay_fc.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5706160678082659426" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 331px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKmv6z5kbMKIIidz39eq0oP5UfyEM-JyQ16xvuhSuc6v2umKAabXpH2tBrnVLn-Js1bR6q2TZySi9e2FjKPiN_F3nkLrhPkXeAiIQCtdbI5nIZNa4sTBlMx_33WaBbUuoayuKGSJxjJSho/s400/EnjoyTheMoment%2528C%2529NinaJMay_open.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5706160671877152546" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 333px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEMYjLAYyVG2-JBdKSIhVlS5o8oxQVwyqblag3JlfH1Pqecxsg3ahC1ccqQpwdeUB32986fX5X2jf-4ZHhsziCb8o5QIUpyrzxSAg2yhABuv5CFqRCG8p3dJ65YY6PrtpLrEdJuZzt0Y2I/s400/EnjoyTheMoment%2528C%2529NinaJMay_cu.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5706160668643749266" />

Oh and I forgot to mention this is a freebie image this week over at that Paper Cupcake Challenge blog, so make sure you snag it quickly, because it will only be there until Wednesday!

So, I highly suggest that if you haven't made a card like this you go to the tutorial and give a surprise pop up card a try!

Well, I am going to try to post another post tomorrow or Wednesday to post a few other things I have created in the last couple of weeks, but this one needs to get posted and I need to finish dinner!

Thanks for lurking by I always love luvins, but a good lurk is good too!
