Some More Cards...

These were some cards I stayed up late and made for some of my dear friend's birthdays, I didn't use any images and just did all paper. I made my own template for the card and just went from there. I really loved how they turned out. That's it for now, because I am extremely tired and off to bed early. I will be back with more details at later.

Magical Monday - Lace & Circle

This week's challenge over at TMITA/PCC is to use any acquired image from Paper Cupcakes and to use a circle (image in a circle or sentiment in a circle) and some lace (either paper punched or real). I used my image in a circle and and used some red lace my mom gave me (thanks mom!). I really wanted to use this image "Perfect Friendship" and so I did. I knew right off I wanted it to be really colorful, because I had this sentiment that I wanted to use with it. I made my own template for this card and this will have been my forth card made with it (hopefully I will post the others this week). I colored the image with my Bic Mark-its and inked all the edges with a variety of cats eye chalks. I made my lollipop flower and added Stickles to the edges. I also ran some thread through the lace and gathered it and just built it from there. The punch is Martha Stewart and I bought this primary colored paper stack this week. I always seem to want some primary colored pp, but don't really have any. DCWV has a lovely one and it will work so nicely for my boy layouts, kid cards and some brightly colored card like this one.

Some More Cards...

Just dropping off some cards that I made weeks ago. The first two are using images from my store Paper Cupcakes. So, if you haven't been by my store you should stop by and check it out and also look through the gallery as well. There are a lot of really great projects in it made by some really talented people aka the Design Team aka my friends. "oD

This first image is called "Just Because" I really like this image, but then I find myself saying that a lot after I use them all! It is the first time I have colored a lot of my images if you see them here. I must say it is kind of fun too, to color them for the first time or to see what someone else does with them as well, if I have never seen them used before. Well, I have a lot of them out there like that, so why don't you stop by and buy a few and show me what you can do with some. This second image is called "Teddy Bear Sunday" I think he is soo cute and super cute all colored up (see, there I go again!). I added some glaze on the lower part of the drips, the cherry and on a few of the dots on the pp; it looks so cute in real life.


This third card I made for a friend that had a baby back in December, OK, I am really slow about posting these, but she didn't even receive it until January! I bought the 3-D sticker of the animals, because, well, you can see how cute it is and so this was a really super fast and easy kind of card. Mindy loves buttons and has an addiction for them so I made sure I added some buttons! She probably is pulling them off and re-using them... LOL.. nope probably not, she has a stash load of them that she probably doesn't need to do that!


OK.. it's late, I have a few more pictures to upload, although they are not my projects I do want to do a special posting, but it is getting late and I am going to bed. Everyone else is already in bed and the house is nice and quiet and still, so I think bed is where I need to be as well!!

BOM Challenge:

I did the layout a few weeks back for the BOM Challenge over at scrapbook.com with my ETG. The challenge was: What's The Word? This challenge is to choose one word that sums up your plans for the new year--how you want to aspire to live, dream, create, etc. This word will set the tone for your 2010 BOM! You can use whatever pictures you like, or no pictures at all! You can include any resolutions if you made any and want to include them. But be sure to tell us your word and why you chose it in your journaling. 25 POINTS!

My word for 2010 was "Focus". My journaling is on the hidden tag that pulls out which is where the "2010" is. The things I want to focus on are: 1) Seeing & realizing my everyday blessings 2) Spending more one on one time with Eric 3) Taking more measures to being healthy with exercise and better choices in eating 4) Building my business 5) declutering certain areas in our home

I can't believe how blue my eyes look in this picture, I swear I didn't do anything to them in the photo program either!! I think the blue paper certainly helps bring out the color! "O)

I kept this simple and clean, I seem to be getting better at this! This was a fairly quick and simply lo too.

Free Digital Image - "Flight Of The Fuschia"

This is my card for Magical Monday over at TMITA/PCC. The challenge was to use this image "Flight Of The Fuschia" and make a card of comfort (thinking of you, sympathy, etc.) I rarely have these kind of cards on hand and also find them one of the most challenging to make. Probably because I always want these type of cards to be just perfect. I was going to do a monochromatic card at first, but decided to add a touch of lavender. I kept this real simple and let my image shine. I just barely met the challenge with that little pearly button! I really liked how this turned out and I just loved all the designers cards for this type of card as well. I certainly will be casing some of their ideas in the future!

Free Digital Image - "I Heart You"

This week's challenge over at TMITA/PCC was to make a Valentine's gift tag with some kind of stitching (tread or hand drawn) using this image from Paper Cupcakes "I Heart You".

I have lots of favorite color combinations and green and pink is one of them. I seen this really pretty paper from Paper Studio and thought it would be perfect. I colored my teddy bear with my colored pencils and also added some soft pink into the lighter parts of him, but I am not sure you can see it here. I cut my tag with my Fiskars shaper tool and then just added my embellishments. OH, I hand stitched my "x's", I love to hand stitch and always love the look, but I love stitching on things all the way around! I also finished off the other side of my tag with the pretty pp as well. This was really a quick project and I just loved how all the projects turned out over at the challenge blog, but then again, I always love 'em. So make sure you stop by and check them all out as well as their personal blogs.

This was a lot of fun, so if you are looking for a bit of creative fun today, make a cute tag with this image! In the mean time have a heartfelt day!

It's A Boy Thing...

This is my lo for the ETG - TECH Challenge over at sb.com ETG (the challenge): I Can See Clearly. This challenge is to use clear (transparent) or translucent items (you can use as many as you want, but you MUST use at least one!) on your layout--this includes transparencies, overlays, vellum, plastic, or even glass (tiles, etc.)! You can use these materials in any way you wish, so use your imagination! 25 Points!
TWIST: NONE, 10 extra points for everyone who does this one, too! TOTAL 35 POINTS!

I use transparencies to cut stars out using my fiskars tool. I then used MM paint and sponged/outlined the stars in the blue and then went back and did some white doodles on them with my uni ball pen. This is a very simple lo for me, but I really liked how it turned out. I added some mustard colored ribbon with blue ric-rac on top of that and then added buttons in the middle of the stars. The 3 is Avery's age in this pic and it was made out of a transparency as well, but I painted it gold. added a few rub-ons and I really loved how this turned out; simple and clean, which is really hard for me!

Magical Monday - Box/Bag/Container

This week over at TMITA/PCC the challenge is brought to us by Kim McDonald. The challenge was to make some kind of container, box or something that would hold or contain candy or something like that. I love making other things outside of cards, so I thought I would do a set again this week. I have to say this project photographed really goofy in the color way. Have you ever had one of those projects where the colors that show up in the photograph really aren't the true colors of your actual project is in real life! Well, that is the way this bag photographed and it drives this perfectionist nut-so! The flower looks an odd green, but really matches much better then it reflects here and my giraffe here on the bag looks more bluish purple then purple. Really look at the giraffe on the bag and then look at the giraffe on the card! Both colored with the same colors, but yet they look like they were not. I think that purple on the green must bring out more of the blues in the color for whatever reason, so I just gave up and this is what you get, photograph wise! :O)

So, anyway..... I had these little bags from the dollar store and so I used one as a template for this bag. I covered the handles with this lovely fuzzy yarn for some fun texture (love texture!) and interest. I colored my image with my Bic Mark-its and then added some colored pencil as well. The PP is from my friend Ami and it is made by Prima (both on the card and bag). OK.. this picture of this bag is REALLY driving me crazy because of how odd the colors look and I almost didn't want to post it, I think I want to replace the flower with a big red one as well!! LOL.... But truly in real life it looks more like the card! OH WELL....

Free Digital Image - "Tons Of Love"

These are the cards I made with this week's Free digital image "Tons Of Love" from PAPER CUPCAKES showcased on TMITA/PCC's blog.

This first card is for the challenge over at TMITA/PCC and it was to use the "Tons Of Love" image as well as Red Ribbon, Buttons and something Glittery and/or Sparkly.

I did my card tall and thin to fit into a regular business size envelope. I colored the elephant with my colored pencils to keep her soft and used the Bic Mark-its for her skirt and hearts for a little more rich color and boldness. I love this ribbon from Wal-mart and have it in several colors. The pp is from a Christmas stack called "Magic of the Season" from Hobby Lobby. I added Red Stickles to the waist of her skirt, toenails and to the hearts. Affixed a button onto of the bow and called it complete after I stamped the word love which is a stamp by Stampabilities. I always finish the insides of my cards, but never take pictures of them. I placed a verse inside that says, "Life's most beautiful things are not seen with the eyes, but felt with the heart"




I wanted to make a softer card in color, more of a baby type card with this image so I went with some pastels. I thought it would be fun to make a blue elephant and so I did just that. The photo corners are Heidi Swapp. I used the Fiskers scalloped border punch with the holes and then tied all those cute little blue bows through each hole. I added some small white pom-poms under the image and then added some blue ric-rac on top of that as well as along the top pp edge. Added 2 yellow rhinestones at the top. I yellow stickles her her skirt (bling bling), and pink Stickles to the toenails and hearts. I wanted to add a sentiment on the top right side, but I couldn't decide what I wanted so I left it blank for the time being, as well as the insides.

Free Digital Image - Miss Kitty

This week's FREE image over at TMITA/PCC is this cute image called "Miss Kitty". I ended up making a card to match this this cute little box in bag that I wanted to try a few weeks back, but didn't. So, I thought the pp would be so cute on this. I colored my image with my colored pencils. I also made my bigger flower that is on my card to match my pp out of just white card stock and I inked the middle and just drew on the black outline. I punched my hearts. Really, this was not a very over difficult project and was really a quickie for me, but I love how the set turned out. On my image I have a little green lines with the white, but it does not show up very well. At first my plans were to attach my "Miss Kitty" onto my box in a bag, but I printed her off a little bigger then what I thought worked well, so I just decided to make the set. I think the pp for the bag in a box works well by itself, but will probably add a cute little tag to dangle from the bow or I still might print off a smaller image and add it still. Oh, I also placed the heart and the bow on pop-up dots.





Oh I should tell you my pp is actually from the dollar store that I bought when I first started scrapping, but I think it is soo cute and wonder why I haven't used it yet... ummm.... I think I have lots of pp like that! LOL... how about you? I would challenge you to pull some of your oldest pp out and use some of it up, you might find that you just might fall back in love with it!!

Some More Cards...

Below are some other cards I made with some of my other images that you can find and purchase at Paper Cupcakes, my new digital stamp store. These images are exclusive only to Paper Cupcakes.

This first Image is called "Praise Him" and I must say this is one of my personal favorites. I actually made this image because I have a friend that plays the guitar and so I drew it so I could make her this birthday card. I colored this image with my Bic Mark-its. I loved how the blue and yellow turned out on her dress. I also took my white uni-ball pen and added some white lines on the bottom part of her dress to make it a little more dramatic with lines. I had the black ink lines, but wanted them to be a bit more apparent at first glance and truly loved how her dress turned out. I did color her guitar with colored pencils though, I wanted the look that the colored pencil gave me for her guitar, plus I feel like I have more control over the blending with my pencils and wanted a smooth overall blend with a softness. I was pleased with the overall card and must say this one is one of my favorites I have made.




This image is called "Small Orchid" and I colored it with my colored pencils. Colored pencils will always be one of my favorite mediums to color things with and I have yet to add any of the blending oils. Although I must say I have purchased some to try them out, but I just have never found myself reaching for them. I truly enjoy the blending aspect within the pencil lead itself.

Free Digital Image - Painted Pony

This card if for the color challenge over at TMITA w/PCC. The FREE image is called "Painted Pony" and if you missed out on the freebie you can find it in my new store Paper Cupcakes. If you haven't been by my store, make sure you check it out. It holds a lot of new digital images that you cannot get anywhere else. They are my originals.

I loved this color challenge that Patti Nelson brought us this week. I love it when the challenges include colors and/or sketches, mainly because it takes a lot of my thinking and decision making out of it. I decided to do another easel card. Although, instead of doing it square I decided to do a 5x7 that would fit into one of my envelopes. It doesn't quite stand the same, but none-the-less turned out cute and I was satisfied with it.

I colored my images with my colored pencils. The tree is a stamp by Stampabilities called "Heart Tree". The stamp is actually only about 2 inches high, but I really wanted a bigger tree and didn't have one (I know I should have just drew one) but I really love this stamp, so unlike digi's where you can just enlarge them (which is one of the things I LOVE about digital stamps) I decided to stamp this and just enlarge it on my copier (is that legal?). The enlarged tree is about 4 1/2 inches and then cut it out after coloring it. I decided to cut grass to hold up my easel and actually did 2 layers one on the base and one on the front behind the pony. I got some fancy smancy scissors from my neighbor/friend Bea/Carl for Christmas that has five blades on both sides and was perfect for cutting my grass and I was excited to actually use them on a project verses just cut things up playing! Thanks Bea! I really loved all the design detail on this pony and had a lot of fun coloring it. I added glossy accents to parts of the designs on the pony and also added it to the red heart on the tree. I placed my painted pony on pop-up dots to make him stand out just a bit as well. I drew the sun in the top corner and added some color to that as well with my pencils and then added some glossy accents to that. Added a little butterfly and thought it looked like a perfect day for a pony out in a field. I really loved how this turned out, but I think my easel part could stand up a little higher and straighter, so I will be working on a way to perfect this size of card in making it into an easel card for easy mailing!
