Deco Flower - Magical Monday

This weeks challenge over at There's Magic In The Air was to emboss (heat or dry) or score something on your card. I wanted my card to be more contemporary so I leaned towards that. Leigh Anne knows just how much I LOVE to emboss, heat embossing is my favorite, but I love how easy dry embossing has become with all the folders now.

So, I decided this image would be a great image to duplicate so I made three to place on this first card. I colored these with my Bic Mark-its. I then added that gold heat embossing around the edges of each image. Then I chalked the back ground with the some colors in the image. I basicially just showcased the images. I placed black stickles on the center of the flower and the dots above it, but that is hard to tell. I dry embossed using a cuttlebug tiny bubbles embossing folder. Then just added some gold trim to match the embossing and three black jewels for some detail. This card was extremely hard to photograph, not sure why, but it truly was.



I pretty bascically did the same techniques here with a different design; and of course I just used one image and added the butterfly!



I really wish you could see these in real life, they are so much prettier! Sometimes, I really don't think the camera catches just how beautiful our cards really are, but oh well, you will just have to believe me on this!

This card I made fairly quick for a thank you a while back prior to this challenge. I added a lot of dots around the flower top to this image. I must say I really like this image.

House Mouse Challenge #41 - Red, White and Blue; any theme

This weeks challenge was a color one, although I threw in that brown for the cobblestone road and a hint of green for the trees, not sure if that is fair or not?! LOL.. but oh well, I guess I am one to push the envelop when it comes to color!! LOL... I figured if the mice could be brown, so could my cobblestone! I love this image and just bought it off the clearance at Hobby Lobby for just 2.00 so I was quite excited about that! I kept her white and added her acessories with the colors red, white and blue. Although her shoes kind of turned an orange color after I added the diamond glaze to make them look patten leather! LOL.. oh well, I used Martha Stewart x-mas stamps for those cute little houses, also bought on the clearance at wal-mart after Christmas, I think for 3.00! LOL... and then I used a cuttlebug embossing folder to make my cobblestone walk. The other little housemouse critters are actually stickers. Thought the street needed some other mice! I also stamped my trees in the background and added a hint of green chalk and then put this all together. I love fiber and I thought the perfect quote for this was "A road to a friend's house is never long" and that is what is on the tag.

House Mouse Challenge #31 - Bags and Boxes

This weeks challenge was to make a box or bag using a stamp. Well, I am thinking that mine is more a bag... LOL... not really a box, but not really a bag, but closer to a bag then a box!! LOLOLOLOL.... So, I made the template myself, although I have seen things like this before but thought it would be easy enough to do without a template. I took a 11x7 piece of card stock and made my first score (going across the shorter length) at 4.5, then made another score an inch from the first. Then measure 4.5 from the last one and score again, that should leave you with another inch area. So, it should be 4.5x1x4.5x1 = 11(wink-wink). Then I used my fiskars shape it tool and cut the oval out, used a fiskars boarder punch and did the edge that folds over the top. I placed a white piece of card stock behind that design so the white would show through. I added a few flower stickers, as well as the bee. Stamped the little sentiment and the mice and colored them with my mark-it markers. Cut them out and I place the one mouse on a pop-up dot as well as the sentiment. This holds a snack size baggie. I filled the baggie with gummie bears (had those one hand) and then added the little mouse inside the bag with a glue dot. I stapled the baggie to the back and then folded over the flap, punched two small holes at the top and then ran some ribbon through it to be able to carry it. I kind of appears more purse like I suppose!! Well, this really did not take me very long to make so I thought this would be a great thing to give little ones that you might visit at Easter or ones that visit you that you might want a little something for, but inexpensive. Artist Trading Cards

These are my ATC's that I made for a swap over at scrap.com. It was a mystery swap so we could do whatever we wanted, there was no theme. This is actually my face in all these cards and if you want to know how to start these out to make some of your own unique cards, you can check it out here on my blog. I really had a lot of fun with these and I will probably make some more of these type of cards to swap. They are each a mini piece of art and each one is different as you can very well see. These are all hand drawn and colored with Bic Mark-it markers with some chalks to do the skies. They are all originals; one of a kind. NOW the hard part to this was to figure out which one of these 20 do I want to personaly keep? I will be swapping 19 of them out and keeping just one! oh the decision!! Everyone in my family had their own favorite, but I just can't seem to decide. I think I will keep the "got milk" one, which is the top left one. I laugh everytime I see it with the milk mustache, I think I secretly always wanted to be the "got milk" model! LOL... it was my husband's idea to add the milk mustache, I had "got milk" on her pail, but then he suggested that and I thought, brillent and fun!! and now I get to be the "got milk" model!! LOL... Now, I took this pic inside so it is ok, if you want a closer look at these you can click on the picture and it enlarges it for a better close-up or you can click on that funky code next to the pic, not sure how I got that there or how to get rid of it but it also takes you to a larger pic LOL. Also, if you see white specks everywhere it is because I used a chalk with sparkles in it and that is the sparkles sparkling, they really don't have those specks in real life. I alway like to do the backs up too to my ATC cards and I do these in the program Print Shop 23. This is the back side of these cards.I know a lot of people don't put much thought into the back, but I personally think it just finishes off the card nicely. I guess I just want the whole card to be a piece of art! If anyone reads this and would like to trade a card with me just leave me a note and I would love to trade! Some More Tall & Thin!

Soo... after doing the House Mouse Challenge I was really liking this tall and thin format. So here are 2 more cards I made for some friends that have some upcoming birthdays. I thought I would keep with the tall and thin since that is a format that I do not normally sway to. But I certainly will be keeping this format in mind more. I received both these images from an image swap on SCS. I certainly need to get over there and get some more cute images. I love the idea of swapping stamped images. I have lots of stamps, but of course if I had all the stamps I wanted I am not sure where I would keep them. So swapping stamped images gives you a wider range of collecting images, but it also limits you in some other creative way, if you know what I mean. I have received some really cute ones from SCS site though.

I colored both these images with my Mark-it markers. I made both cards mostly with scraps, except the base. I also did the inside up. I usually do, but for the most part I always fail to take a pic of the insides. Cards are a great way to use up some of your scraps.. ok.. off to make one more card!! LOL...

One thing about these tall and thin cards you certainly don't get a great close up pic of them, not sure why, but they tend to be smaller, so if you want more of a close up just click on the picture.

Housemouse Monday Challenge Designer Team

ok.. I just ran across this blog today and I must say I am in love with it at first glance. Having mice and rats as pets I ADORE housemouse stamps! So after looking around and reading this blog I thought... what the heck... The only thing better would be to receive the stamps for free!! If you too would like to visit their blog the site is linked to this post title. So, here is my reply to their post:

1. Why you would like to join the team: Well, first because I adore mice and rats and little critters!.. LOL.. as pets that is.. when I first discovered the housemouse stamp site looking for real mice stuff, I instantly fell in love with these stamps. I personally think these stamps have such personality that just comes alive in their images. I ADORE not only the original housemouse stamps, I adore the happy hoppers and Gruffies as well. I have never attempted to go for a designer team position, but feel like this would be a great fit for me. Mainly though, I would like to be an inspirtation and encouragement to anyone and everyone creatively as an individual and as a team member.
